Tournament rules

the rules of the Beast’s Eliminator (TBE) expressed below, will apply to all participants. Though the tournament is unsanctioned, all uSBC rules can be used, applied and referred to at the tournament director’s Discretion when needed to settle any disputes of or situations. the TBE director will have the final say in regards to any and all questions or disputes. TBE events are open to all bowlers.

Tournament Format

  • Handicap is 85% of 220.

  • 1 in 5 bowlers cash.

  • Bowlers will observe a (1) Lane Courtesy for the event.

  • qualifying consists of (3) total games.

  • top scores with handicap after qualifying advance to round 2.

  • round 2 will consist of a single elimination match play bracket final.

Bracket Round

  • In a tournament large enough where 30 bowlers or more advance, the opening round of the single elimination matches will be conducted with (4) bowlers on a pair.

  • a bowlers opponent will be the bowler on that persons OWN lane (example: bowler with lane assignment 15A bowls the bowler with the lane assignment 15B. 16C would bowl 16D).

  • after the opening match play round, play will continue with only (2) bowlers on a pair for the duration of the tournament.

  • When the point of having only (2) bowlers per pair has been reached, please observe “match play format” during your matches.

  • “match play format” is as follows: the bowler assigned to the left lane starts the match and bowls (1) complete frame. Then the bowler on the right will bowl (2) Consecutive frames. both bowlers then take turns bowling (2) consecutive frames at a time till the completion of the game.

  • In bracket play ONLY: the max score including handicap shall not exceed 300

  • ties in qualifying and any round of brackets shall be broken by a 9th and 10th frame roll-off.

  • the max score in a tiebreaker including handicap shall not exceed 60 pins.

  • if bowlers are still tied after a roll-off, the ties will be broken by a single shot, high count roll-off.

  • handicap for the 1st roll-off will be 20% of the bowler’s single game handicap.

  • in a round where there are less cashing spots than bowlers remaining (example: 60 bowlers=12 cashing spots. round 2 holds 16 bowlers), the highest losing scores in that round will cash.

Junior Participation

  • Junior bowlers, in reference to USBC rule 400 are allowed to participate in tBE tournaments.

  • junior bowlers will receive any prize money in the form or a scholarship deposited into the bowler’s SMART account

  • Junior bowlers will not be allowed to participate in any side pots or brackets where money is awarded (the only exception being the beat the beast side pot where bowlers can win a bowling ball)

Averages

  • bowlers averages will be determined by the following:

  • highest USBC book average from the most recent (4) years.

  • Current book average.

  • TBE tournament average with at least (4) events or 21 games.

  • current league average with a minimum of 21 games (must provide most current league sheet for verification).

  • all other bowlers must bowl scratch until you establish a tournament average.

  • PBA/PWBA members will bowl scratch.

  • Handicap shall not exceed (75) pins per game, regardless of average.

  • All above factors may be applied when determining a bowlers average for competition.

  • the tournament director reserves all rights in the rating of a bowler’s average.

On Lane Courtesy

  • while in competition on and off the lanes, please show good sportsmanship to all fellow competitors.

  • Bowlers may not alter the surface of their bowling ball at any time once that ball has been delivered in competition(I.E. after practice).

  • the use of powder to alter the slide of one’s shoe on the approach is not allowed. if you are having an issue with the approach, please see the tournament director to see what can be done to address the issue.

  • In accordance with the USBC rule in regards to weight holes in a bowling ball. Bowling balls with weight holes are not allowed in TBE competition. If you are found in violation of this rule during play, you can receive a Zero score for your game.

  • Bowling Balls not approved for use in USBC competition are not allowed for use in TBE tournaments.

  • a bowler is allotted up to (2) re-racks per game. after (2), the bowler may not re-rack for the remainder of that game Without the tournament director’s approval.

  • taunting or the use of foul language towards bowlers will be Considered an act of bad sportsmanship and will not be tolerated.

  • any improper conduct seen should be reported to the tournament director to be dealt with.

  • it is a bowler’s responsibility to make sure their scoresheet’s are accurate and completed. incomplete scoresheets will receive a zero score and will not count towards seedings/points/pays. cheating, falsification of one’s scores or breaking any rules of the tournament will result in a bowler’s disqualification and bowlers may not be allowed to bowl in future events at the tournament director’s Discretion.
